What Remains of EC Comics
What Remains of Edith Finch (2017) is a celebrated and ambitious narrative game about family memories, which has been likened to weird fiction (Gaiman, Mieville, etc.) and to magical realism (García Márquez, etc.). It also serves as a celebration of the affordances of videogames, and their ability to remediate previously existing media. In this article, I’d like to focus on one of these remediated items, a horror comic book, and what it can tell us both about the game and about the cultural memories of evokes.
